Night-time cycle pushes bikers in Hampshire
17 July 2008
Cyclists are being challenged to take part in a bike ride in the dark later this year.
On 27 and 28 September, in Hampshire and West and East Sussex, cyclists will take part in the ‘incredible’ mountain biking challenge that will see them ride 120 km (75 miles) from Beachy Head along the South Downs Way to Queen Elizabeth Country Park (near Petersfield).
Trail Break says: ‘It's an incredible mountain biking challenge, but we've made it possible’.
It adds: ‘The first Maxx Exposure, in October last year, was hailed as a great success and a must-do event by everyone who took part’.
Cycling from sunset to sunrise, the mountain bikers will journey across ‘miles of uninterrupted off-road and relentless lung-busting hills’.
All participants will be provided with a bacon sandwich and tea at the finish point and there will be support stations every 20 km.
The South Downs Way, according to AboutBritain.com, is a ‘very popular’ National Trail in the south-east of England.
It follows a path that dates back to the Stone Age and is today a firm favourite with fans of outdoor activity, be it rambling or cycling.
