Walking Britain launches 'coast and countryside' walks
25 January 2008
Walking Britain has launched a series of new ‘coast and countryside’walks for ramblers to take advantage of in the new year.
The walking organisation highlights walking trails around Britain thatwill get ramblers out of their armchairs and into the fresh air.
Walk 1908, in Norfolk, is top of its list. A route that is 8 miles in length guides ramblers around Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham Park on a 115-metre ascent.
The organisation says of the area: ‘The extensive beach of Holkham Bay (at low tide), the large village of Wells-next-the-Sea and the grandeur of the 18th-century home of the Earl of Leicester, Holkham House, are combined to make this a walk full of interest’.
It suggests ramblers embarking on the walking trail take with them Ordnance Survey’s OS Explorer Map 251 or the OS Landranger Map 132.
Other coastal explorations recommended include a 2-mile stroll from Blakeney to Morston Quay or a 4-mile ramble between Salthouse and Cley next the Sea.
