Chester all set for charity cycling event

A biking trip held each year in Cheshire to raise awareness of a rare form of epilepsy is set to take place.

This year's Chester Challenge takes place on Sunday 31 August and is a biking trail that starts and ends in the city, taking in some spectacular scenery along the way.

All proceeds from the bike-riding event go to the International Dravet Syndrome Epilepsy Action League, which promotes research aimed at earlier diagnoses and improved treatment for the condition.

The Chester Challenge website reports that there will be a choice of three biking routes, with each event beginning at 9.30 am at the Old Hall Country Club in Huntington.

Ample parking and changing facilities are provided at the club, and refreshments, including much-needed drinks and energy bars, will also be available.

Entry forms are available on the event's website, with fees of £10, £12.50 and £15 respectively, depending on which route the participant decides to take.

Meanwhile, the Chester Cycling Campaign website reports that the city is to receive £2.4 million funding for cycling initiatives after it was granted cycle demonstration town status.
