London to Brighton Classic Car Run
02 May 2008
Motoring fans and those who enjoy outdoor activities will be heading to the coast this summer.
On Sunday 8 June the annual London to Brighton Classic Car Run will take place, featuring a range of pre-1983 automobiles making the journey between the two destinations.
Classic car lovers from the UK and Europe are expected to attend the event, which will start at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, Brooklands in Weybridge, Surrey, and finish at Madeira Drive, Brighton.
This year's event will be the 20th time the journey has taken place, marking its historic importance in the classic car calendar.
Entrants will not need to bring route maps with them as they will be provided with a ‘tulip style’ book when they arrive, that will guide them through the villages and unspoilt minor roads to their final destination.
Organisers of the event say: ‘A different route each year gives you the chance to explore some of southern England's finest scenery with other enthusiasts.
‘Greeted by our commentator and up to 20 000 spectators, the hundreds of cars make a wonderful display on Brighton's famous seafront road, Madeira Drive, where the atmosphere is really buzzing.’
