Bird watching in Pembrokeshire
12 June 2008
A bird watching event has been organised in Pembrokeshire next month, giving ramblers the perfect excuse to get out into the countryside.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds® (RSPB®) has organised the event, which will take place on 17 July on Ramsey Island, according to hostel chain YHA®.
It says: ‘The beautiful rugged island of Ramsey offers the perfect location for bird watching and nature lovers’.
Visitors to the Ramsey Island nature reserve will be able to explore the area's ‘dramatic scenery’, discover its seal colony and observe the range of birds that migrate to and from the area.
The RSPB is charging £17 for adults to take part in the event and £15 for concessions, while children can take part for £8.50. Walkers will set off at 9.00 am and may want to bring along a pair of binoculars.
Ramsey Island is a popular place for dolphin watching for fans of outdoor activities and nature lovers.
According to a website set up by local tour firm Voyages of Discovery, the location is popular with the dolphins due to its ‘nutrient rich water’ and offshore reefs.
