At the beginning of each month we give clues to a location in Great Britain that is great for walkers. The answer is revealed fortnightly in an Area of the month feature, so you can come back to this page to see if your guess was right, or email your answer to us for the chance to win a prize! If you fancy yourself as a walking detective, see this month’s clues below.
William the Conqueror named this area his ‘new hunting forest’ more than 900 years ago.
Ships for Nelson’s fleet were built in a nearby village.
To get to this area exit the M27 at Junction 1 or take the train to Sway.
This area lies in the south-west of Hampshire and is the eighth National Park in England – created in March 2005.
This is the largest remaining area of lowland heath in Europe.
More than 34 000 people live within this National Park, making it the most densely populated National Park in England.

Keen cyclists can test their fitness on 9 September by taking part in either a 50-mile or 100‑mile bike ride. The ride is to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which recruits and manages bone marrow donors.
