Peak District walking with a difference
07 August 2007
Walkers in the Peak District can now enjoy all the area has to offer – with a very different form of companion.
The Moors for the Future Partnership has created a unique series of podcast ‘audio trails’, which should help people to appreciate their natural and historic environment even more.
The podcasts can be downloaded from the Internet and listened to on MP3 players as visitors explore each area.
Dan Boys, of Moors for the Future, emphasised that ‘there should be something for everyone to enjoy’.
He continued: ‘The walks range from very factual, Radio 4® style documentaries to easy listening stories interspersed with music and the sounds of the moors.’
The audio-guided walks are between 2 and 10 miles long.
Highlights include a themed talk on film and literature locations and a walk to Gardom’s edge, home to the Peak District National Park’s most famous prehistoric rock art.
Radio 4 is a registered trademark of The British Broadcasting Corporation.
