Worcester Cathedral

Worcester offers guided walks

Worcester is celebrating British Tourism Week by offering guided walking tours of its historic centre.

The West Midlands town has been a settlement since Neolithic times, thriving under the Romans and again in the late Middle Ages.

Its most famous landmark is the imposing Worcester Cathedral, which features the only circular chapter house in the UK and the tomb of King John.

A host of local dignitaries took the tour earlier this week, led by qualified green badge guide Miriam Harvey.

Among the guests was local MP Michael Foster.

He told the Worcester News: ‘I'm delighted to be able to walk in Worcester, and recognise the importance of tourism to us locally as well as nationally. I am acutely aware of the main attractions Worcester can offer, but I hope to learn even more about the city my family and I live in.’

Walking tours are available daily and can be arranged through the local tourism office.
