New Cheetah Rock exhibit opens at Whipsnade Zoo
31 March 2008
The new Cheetah Rock exhibit has opened at Whipsnade Zoo this month.
The 5 000 square metre feature, which has cost in excess of £1 million, lies along the main pedestrian path, which follows across the road from the Lions of Serengeti and their African village.
Zoo keepers promise that Cheetah Rock will help make Whipsnade a fun day out for all the family, conjuring up images of faraway places, with a landscap ed rock lookout.
Previously at the Zoo, a staggering 130 cubs have been born and reared in the last 40 years, making the species one of Whipsnade's success stories.
Also on display at the zoo at the moment are the new rhinos of Nepal as well as the silvery marmosets, which live in family units consisting of a breeding pair and their offspring.
The zoo opens daily between 10.00 and 18.00. Admission costs £15.40 for an adult and £11.90 for children aged between 3 and 15; kids under 3 go free.
