St Patrick's Day parade to take place in London
07 March 2008
A St Patrick's Day parade is set to take place in London this month.
The marching parade will feature bands from all 32 Irish counties as well as representation from various Irish communities that are based in London.
Street theatre performers will also take to the streets to entertain revellers who turn out for the 'fun-filled family spectacle'.
On Sunday 16 March the parade will begin at Hyde Park Corner at noon and move along Piccadilly, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall East, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall before finishing off at Whitehall Place.
As well as the parade, London will also be hosting an Irish festival on St Patrick's Day in Leicester Square, Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square.
Trafalgar Square will showcase traditional Irish music and dance, ranging in style from traditional to contemporary, and will also feature the biggest Irish travel exhibition in Britain.
In Covent Garden there will be a food market with a wide-range of Irish treats, while Leicester Square will play host to a giant Ceilidh.
