St George's extravaganza in Wrest Park

A St George's extravaganza will take place in Wrest Park, Bedfordshire, on 23 April.

Cavalry displays on horseback will take place throughout the day and the Redoats will be present in full dress at the event, which is organised by English Heritage®.

Visitors will also be able to try their hand at traditional games, delight in fire eating and falconry displays or have a leisurely browse of English Heritage's historic craft market.

The climax of the day, however, will be a traditional showdown between the dastardly dragon and St George himself, who is the patron saint of England.

Wrest Park, which dates back to the late 18th century, is located just outside of Silsoe and features formal gardens, inspired by the landscaping at Versailles in France.

Between Saturday 24 May and Monday 26 May the park will also play host to a garden show, which will feature a selection of plants, sundries and outdoor furniture.
