Wildlife photography exhibition to open
08 October 2007
An exhibition displaying entries for an annual wildlife photography competition will open this month in London.
The Natural History Museum will display more than 100 winning and commended entries in the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition from 27 October 2007 to 29 April 2008.
Amateur and professional photographers from over 78 countries have entered 32 000 photographs in the competition, which has been running for over 40 years.
The exhibition will also feature an interactive installation display aimed at giving visitors an insight into the judges’, scientists’ and photographers’ thoughts about particular images.
Members of the public are also being given the opportunity to meet this year's winners at a two-day event at the Royal Geographic Society in London on 26 and 27 October.
Winners past and present will share insights on how to frame, print and publish nature photographs, while also recounting anecdotes from their careers.
BBC Wildlife® magazine runs the competition in partnership with the Natural History Museum, with oil firm Shell® as its sponsor.
Entry to the exhibition is £7 for adults, £3.50 for concessions and £18 for a family ticket, which admits up to five people, including at least one adult.
