Waterperry Gardens hosts Christmas weekend
30 October 2007
Waterperry Gardens in Oxford is holding a special Christmas weekend this festive season.
The ornamental gardens, which were founded more than 70 years ago as a school of horticulture for ladies, will play host to a Christmas market and fair on 24 and 25 November.
Visitors at the event can learn to make wreaths, decorations, mulled wine and mince pies whilst children will be able to meet Santa Claus, have their face painted and enter colouring competitions.
Entry to the three hectares of gardens is £3 and provides those getting into the Christmas spirit at this festive day out the perfect opportunity to take a ramble around the gardens.
Walking through the grounds, visitors will come across the Rural Life Museum, a 13th century Saxon church as well as a water lily canal, which Waterperry Gardens recommends for a riverside walk.
On 13 December the gardens will also be hosting a guided walk and high tea, educating walkers on what to plant in their gardens to make festive decorations.
