Bid for unique VisitBritain holiday gifts online
11 October 2007
VisitBritain is joining forces with eBay® this month to offer holidaymakers the chance to bid online for unique experiences.
All funds raised as part of the TopLots project funds will go to the museums, galleries and heritage attractions, which have donated the holiday gifts.
Bidders on eBay can pay for the chance to walk around the stones at Stonehenge – which is normally forbidden – or have their picture hung in a British gallery.
Other experiences set to go online include a trip to Liverpool, the European City of Culture 2008, which includes a personal tour of the Walker Art Gallery by TV chef Lloyd Grossman and one night at the Radisson SAS Hotel.
Those seeking a bit more action can bid to learn sword fighting with John Waller – fight choreographer on the Monty Python® films – at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, in a session that will include one-on-one tuition and behind-the-scenes tips.
But perhaps the most prestigious of all the gifts is the opportunity to buy a ride with the Queen’s mounted regiment, the Household Cavalry, around Hyde Park in London, followed by an exclusive tour of the Knightsbridge Barracks.
VisitBritain is the national tourism agency and promotes Britain in 36 international markets.
