A spicy day out in Sussex
02 August 2007
Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August 2007 sees West Dean House near Chichester, West Sussex, put chillies on the map with the return of the famous Chilli Fiesta.
If you enjoy fiery food, then this will be the highlight of your summer event calendar. Over 250 varieties of chilli will be on sale, around 80 stall holders will display their chilli-inspired foods and produce, Latin bands will play and, hopefully, the sun will shine!
Many stalls put out tasters so you can test the strength of your taste buds with traditional chilli-inspired dishes. Not for the faint hearted.
West Dean House and Gardens, built in 1622, is situated in an Area of Ooutstanding Natural Beauty in the South Downs and is a perfect place to enjoy a lazy day in harmonious surroundings.
The house and gardens offer walks through glorious parkland, a view of the South Downs from the arboretum, a chance to see the best Victorian glasshouses in the country and a fully restored walled kitchen garden.
The event opens at 10.30 am and closes at 5.00 pm, with all entries costing £6.50. Later in the year visitors can walk around the grounds whilst soaking up the atmosphere of the Totally Tomato Show on 8 and 9 September and the Apple Affair on 13 and 14 October.
