Scotland's first 21st-century castle built
14 August 2007
Scotland has seen its first castle built in the 21st century in the form of the newly constructed Glenskirlie Castle.
Located in Stirlingshire in the village of Banknock, the castle is owned by the Macaloney family, who plan to open it to the public as a luxury hotel, reports 24dash.
Colin Macaloney, General Manager, said: ‘The new hotel opens up so many opportunities for our clients to make their time at Glenskirlie more enjoyable and relaxing.
‘With our location being so central in the heart of Scotland, it also provides tourists with the perfect base from which to see much of what is the best in the country in terms of tourism attractions.’
The castle also has honeymoon suites and themed bedrooms plus wedding reception facilities and a function suite which caters for up to 120 guests.
The West Highland Way just to the north of Glasgow is a popular Scottish walking trail, which attracts thousands of visitors each year.
