Horse- riding workshop in Staffordshire

Horse-riding lovers can benefit from a training workshop this weekend.

The event, which is organised by the Blue Cross’ Equine Welfare division, will educate visitors about how horses learn and provide an insight into their capability for training.
Held at the Blue Cross Equine Welfare Centre in Rolleston on Dove, Staffordshire, on 27 October, the event is open to all members of the public and will present the latest research in this area.

Equine World UK said: ‘Horse riders are rarely introduced to the effective application of learning theory and much misinformation and confusion surrounds the training of horses.

‘The Blue Cross now receives 25% of their horses with training/behavioural problems, which indicates the scale of problems that can readily be avoided.’

Teaching horse owners how to avoid common pitfalls in training, the workshops will explain how to apply the research into horse behaviours practically to make training effective.

Visitors can enjoy tea and coffee on arrival before receiving a tour of the Blue Cross Equine Welfare Centre and then beginning the workshops.

Blue Cross Equine Welfare has three dedicated centres across the UK, in Oxfordshire, Northiam in East Sussex and Rolleston on Dove in Staffordshire.
