Lake District gets half-term spooks
22 October 2007
The Lake District is offering families a spooky day out this half-term.
A range of activities, including creepy crawly safaris, secret garden adventures and ghostly gatherings, will run throughout the school holidays at the Lake District visitor centre in Brockhole near Windermere.
As well as the Halloween antics, the visitor centre is also running guided walks, including a ramble around Derwent Water, which will feature a boat trip on 22 October.
Andrea Hill, Learning Co-ordinator for the Lake District National Park, said: ‘You don’t have to be super fit, as the walks are clearly graded for all ages and abilities. Leisurely strolls are carefully designed for the less able while hill walks can be high level and challenging.’
She added that the park is already ‘working hard’ on next year's programme, the details of which will be announced in the 2008 events guide published in March next year.
There will also be a Dales Way walk from Staveley to Windermere on 25 October as well as many other rambles in the area, which are listed in Lake District National Park Authority's Out and About events guide.
