All aboard the fish and chip train
14 August 2007
Visitors to Dartmoor, looking to see the countryside, will be in for a treat during August.
Various trains are running daytime and evening trips for visitors, each offering special dining options to give any day out an authentically English feel.
Dartmoor Railways are attracting visitors with the prospect of fish and chips on 10 and 24 August.
The freshly cooked meal is served to passengers at the comfort of their seats, allowing them to enjoy the scenery during their meal. Alternatively, passengers can opt to eat their fish and chips outside the train at the Meldon Viaduct, which overlooks the West Okement Valley, reports Tindle Newspapers.
There are just 40 seats available on the Okehampton train, which departs at 18.30.
Train enthusiasts will be in for another treat, with the Sunset Special steam trains running on 11 August.
There will feature real ale and jazz music on board, with a curry theme to the evening's cuisine.
