Annual Archaeology Day in Sheffield
22 October 2007
Preparations for the annual South Yorkshire Archaeology Day 2007 are now well underway.
The day out is held at the Showroom cinema in Sheffield on Saturday 3 November and provides enthusiasts with a unique chance to hear leading archaeologists talk about recent projects in the area as well as South Yorkshire’s archaeological history.
A programme of talks will run throughout the day about a range of projects, including the recent excavations at Templeborough Roman fort, Doncaster ’s medieval landscape and the multi-period urban excavation at Sheffield bus station, from leaders in the field.
Visitors are recommended to book in advance for the event, which will feature opportunities throughout the day to ask questions from the floor to the experts; and there is a £10 admission charge.
International documentary film festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, will also be held at the Showroom between 7 and 11 November.
This year’s festival is expected to be the biggest yet, with an estimated 1 000 delegates descending on the city for the event, which will feature Danish Docs – a programme specially curated by Mark Cousins – and The World of the Japanese Legend by Noriaki Tsuchimoto.
