Free art workshops in Ilkley
11 October 2007
Art workshops inspired by the work of Leeds-born artist Norman Ackroyd are to be held for free in Ilkley.
A family workshop based on Ackroyd’s landscapes will be held on Saturday 13 October and three drop-in workshops for different age groups will be held at the museum and gallery during the half-term school break.
The workshops will take place at Ilkley’s Manor House Museum and Art Gallery in celebration of successful artists from the area.
Ackroyd's Turner-inspired work will also be displayed at an exhibition of his work at the Castle Yard gallery until 18 November.
Lucia Smith is another local artist participating in the event. She will run a workshop entitled Ripping Time with Landscapes between 11 am and 4 pm on 13 October.
Visitbradford.com cites Ilkley’s steam railway – ‘panoramic views of the surrounding countryside’ – stately homes and one of Yorkshire 's last remaining lidos as some of the reasons people from all over the country decide to visit the town.
